Background of the Study
Transportation is a critical component of supply chain management, affecting the movement of goods from suppliers to end-users. In Nigeria, transportation bottlenecks, such as poor road infrastructure, traffic congestion, and fuel scarcity, significantly impact supply chain performance (Ajibola & Kolawole, 2023). For Nestlé Nigeria in Taraba State, these bottlenecks hinder timely delivery, increase operational costs, and disrupt supply chain efficiency.
Nestlé Nigeria depends on an efficient transportation network to distribute its products across diverse regions. In Taraba State, logistical challenges exacerbate supply chain inefficiencies, reducing customer satisfaction and market competitiveness (Usman & Lawal, 2024). This study reviews the effects of transportation bottlenecks on Nestlé Nigeria’s supply chain performance.
Statement of the Problem
Transportation bottlenecks are a major impediment to supply chain performance in Nigeria, affecting delivery schedules, increasing costs, and compromising product quality. For Nestlé Nigeria in Taraba State, these issues have led to customer dissatisfaction and reduced profitability. Despite their significance, the effects of transportation bottlenecks on supply chain performance remain inadequately addressed in existing literature (Okoro & Adebayo, 2023). This study seeks to explore these effects and propose solutions.
